Today most of the route will follow small roads, allowing us to discover the heart of Castile, charming villages, and two of the most important medieval fortresses in the region. Our first stop will be in Medina del Campo, a small town of pre-Roman origin and one of the most important cities in Castile during the Middle Ages. It was one of the main financial centers in Europe at that time. We will stroll through its Plaza Mayor before enjoying a guided visit to the Castle of La Mota (entrance included), a 15th-century fortress with a dual purpose: to defend the city and to safeguard the most important archives of the Kingdom of Castile. (Note: due to schedule changes, the interior visit of the castle may not always be possible; in such cases, the visit will be exterior only). We then continue to Segovia. Before entering the city, we will drive around it to reach the Pradera de San Marcos viewpoint, offering the best views of the Alcázar of Segovia (which inspired Walt Disney for the castle in Sleeping Beauty) and its walls.Afterwards, in the old town, we will walk through the former Jewish quarter and arrive at Plaza Mayor, where your guide will recommend places to have lunch and enjoy the local specialty: roast suckling pig. In the afternoon, we will explore the city with our guide, visiting the cathedral, the Alcázar, and the impressive Roman Aqueduct of Segovia, made up of 167 arches, built in the 1st century and in use until 1973. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the afternoon, we will depart for Madrid. Arrival around 7:30 pm. End of our services.
